Santa Anita Best Bets
There are nine races today on this beautiful day for racing at The Great Race Place, Santa Anita Park.
Today the field sizes are not very large, but we do think we have found some value in our play of the day.
Last Sunday, we gave out a winning play. We found a nice daily double sequence that paid out $30.40 for a $2.00 wager.

Below is the race we capped off our daily double. #7 Lofty was our single at 5/2 in the cashing leg.

Race 5 ~ OC 62k/N2X
1 Mile on Turf
5 horses will battle it out for a purse of $65,000. This race has some solid turf horses all with multiple turf victories on their resume.
#1 Proud Pedro is coming off a layoff of nearly 6 months. This horse has run fresh off the layoff before, and shows a bunch of back class, and ability on his track record.
Below #1 Proud Pedro gets snouted in the Let it Ride Stakes at Delmar off nearly a 5 month layoff.
This horse has run in classy races and faced some stiff competition. Arklow, Hit the Road, United all graded stakes horses.
But there are a few concerns. Today this 5 year old horse is in for the tag. He is up for sale for $62,500. He hasn’t won at the mile distance, maybe going longer is better suited for this runner.
Today we should get some value on this runner because he is facing a couple horses that are in form right now #3 Gregdar & #5 Rip City.
#5 Rip City looks like the horse to beat in this field. The mile distance looks like that is the perfect distance for this grey 4 year old gelding. He has won 5 of his last 7 races and the two races he lost he ran second.

Race 6 ~ Clm 16000(16-14)
1 Mile on Dirt
Another 5 horse field. This time it’s 16k claimers going a mile on dirt. This race we are going to look at the outside runner #5 Camby. This veteran claimer has been running mostly in sprint races throughout its career but now is stretching out to a two turn mile race.
Trainer Vann Belvoir is good at this move, stretching a horse out from sprint to route. In a small sample size he’s been hitting at 36% out of 14 attempts. #5 Camby has hit the board in 8 of its 13 career starts at Santa Anita and won 2 of his last 4 claiming races at Santa Anita.
#5 Camby has tried the one mile distance only one time without success. This 6 year old gelded son of Candy Ride is bred to handle the distance and has speed. This guy is dropping to the 16k claiming level from starter allowance company.
Young jockey Jessica Pyfer has been really good getting her mounts out of the gate. She has shown the ability to break on top, and in a small field like this we think that she could wire this field.
Santa Anita Play Of The Day
***We make our selections on a theoretical $20 base wager. We will give out $20 daily double wagers on this website. Remember, these wagers are theoretical and we use a $20 wager for two reasons. Firstly, because our plays usually run between $40-$60, which is a reasonable bankroll and secondly it’s easy to keep track of our winnings and loses per month. ***
