Sunday is here and we hope it’s sunny.  After the rains came in on Saturday and created an off track let’s hope that the main track drys out and the turf races remain on the grass.

3 Expert Betting Tips For Keeneland Race Course 

Race 3 ~ Maiden Claiming 20000

1 Mile 1/16 on Dirt

Race 3 is scheduled to have 9 runners racing for a $21,000 purse.  This race is for fillies and mares 3 years old and upward going 1 1/16 miles.

This 1 1/16 distance ends on the first finish line.  Therefore this race has the short homestretch.  With this field of bottom level maidens we see a few underachieving droppers and one first time starter.

#1 Coupon is breaking from the rail.  The rail isn’t ideal for a first timer but this field looks like a soft spot we are going to take a shot.

There are a some drawbacks to this runner.  Winning first out is always tough. The trainer is a capable one Dane Kobiskie, but is on a 0-25 skid this year.

The slow starting trainer has brought a string to Keeneland that has been firing.  He is 0-7 so far, but has 2 seconds and 4 thirds.

He employees the veteran rider C.J. Hernández to take this mount.  This will be a long shot but considering this field let’s throw her on the ticket.

#3 Simply Beguiled attracts leading rider Luis Saez.  This 4 year old Palace Malice filly is trying blinkers for the first time.  These connections are shipping her in from The Fairgrounds and putting her back on dirt.

She has had difficulty getting pushed out wide in her previous races.  An aggressive rider and adding blinkers let’s hope Saez can place in a great spot to get her first win.

Race 4 ~ Maiden Special Weight 79k

1 1/16 Mile on Turf

Another 9 horse race, this time it’s going 1 1/16 miles on turf.  This is a pretty interesting race.  The field consists of 3 year old fillies all looking for their first victory.

#3 Fairchild is a Mark Casse runner shipping in from The Fairgrounds who has placed second in both its career starts.  Tyler Gaffalione picks up the mount this time who regularly rides for Mark Casse.  This filly made a middle move last out and couldn’t hold off the eventual winner.

This horse was coming off a layoff last out and we expected this gal to be a little more fit this race.

#7 Tracy Flick was disqualified in her one and only start.  She won the race but was taken down by the stewards.  She is a War Front filly who last race went straight to the front end and wired the field down at Gulfstream Park.

There is a little pace to the inside in this race, and this track runners from off the pace have been winning on this turf course.

A couple of the runners that competed with #7 Tracy Flick ran back at Keeneland on Wednesday.  One of the runners did come back and win. A Thing of Beauty is a Todd Pletcher trainee who took race three going 1 1/8 on the grass.
